Pregnancy Pause: Is it fair to create so much fuss around Ash's pregnancy?

Among other things that kept industry watchers and insiders in a tizzy all of last week was the news that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is in the family way! The good news about the stork's impending visit posted by Mr Bachchan on a social networking site set tongues wagging about the fate of Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine that has Ash essay the role of a fading superstar.

On the last count there has been talk of the film being shelved though UTV, producers of the film, have not yet made an announcement to that effect. Neither has the director or the actor's publicist, so one would like to imagine that all is well on that front. However, it does leave one wondering about the fuss that follows such announcements.

In the past too leading actresses such as Kajol, Nandita Das, Juhi Chawla, Konkona Sen Sharma have worked in movies right through advanced stages of pregnancy. In this instance, the glamorous subject of the film-- the life of an actress --could pose a few problems, but surely they could hardly be deemed insurmountable.

Hollywood's most glamorous mother Angelina Jolie, who was in Cannes to promote Kung Fu Panda when she was expecting twins ,went about her work as nonchalantly as before (except that members of the paparazzi reportedly got roughed up when they drew too close for comfort to the star's mansion).
